This is a
new line I am developing with carved vines and
leaves. This plate was thrown in stoneware,
then I painted the surface with porcelain slip
(liquefied clay). After it dries to leather
hard stage, I carve the vine designs in freehand,
cutting through the porcelain to reveal the
stoneware body. The piece is glazed in clear.
I like the
subtle, classic and quiet nature of this design,
letting the carving and alteration be the focal
points without distracting colors. |
